Mitchell Street - 20 years of community child care
Mitchell Street is like an extended family.During their time in care, children get to know one another and so do the families, though daily interaction and various social events. Many families make connections that go well beyond their Mitchell street days.
Sensitive Staff
Our dynamic staff combine sensitivity with experience, providing or children with comfort, guidance and stability. Staff plan programs and foster individual development, independence, social skills and encourage an awareness of the natural environment.
Programs to Stimulate and Enjoy
The centre is relaxed and home-like. Our children are happy enjoying diverse learning activities eg. Dramatic play, music and movement, painting and pasting, cooking, story time and outdoor play.
Rest Time
Our routine includes rest time, when the carers settle children and help them get to sleep if needed. Older children not needing a sleep can take part in quiet activities.
A quiet safe environment
The lovely treed play areas are perfect for adventures and a range of structured and unstructured play. We also enjoy regular excursions (CERES, the zoo, local parks and schools) and visits from groups such as puppet shows, animal farms and Wild Action.
Small groups
Babies (under 2), Toddlers (2-3yrs) and Pre-schoolers (3-5yrs) have their own rooms and carers, giving continuity and the comfort of a familiar face.
