It was that time of year again when an enthusiastic group of MCCCC educators participated in Melbourne City Mission’s Sleep at the G. Sleep at the G is now in its seventh year and raises much needed funds for Melbourne City Mission, who support more than 5,000 people experiencing homelessness a week. This year, Melbourne City Mission was also hoping to raise funds to support their newly opened crisis accommodation centre for at-risk young people, Frontyard.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
MCCCC acknowledge that where we stand is Wurundjeri country and in recognition we respectfully include Aboriginal pedagogy in our practice.
We guide children to become prepared and motivated learners, confident to discover their world. We acknowledge our role within the community
as co-constructors in educating children. Equality, equity and inclusion are the foundation of our perspective when working as a part of our
community with children and families.
An effective approach to children’s learning is a balance between learning through play and providing structure and an environment rich in possibilities. Using a purposeful, deliberate and thoughtful curriculum enables educators to teach with intent and empowers children and families.
Our commitment to professional practice, critical reflection and deep pedagogical inquiry defines our culture of continual learning.
Building respectful relationships and collaborative partnerships empowers children to be responsible members of society. Children are educated
to understand their impact on the environment and to identify ways to reduce their carbon footprint. We think about the outcomes of our actions
and how to advocate for a more sustainable planet.
An Indigenous perspective
In 2019, MCCCC formed a working relationship with indigenous consultant Nicole Cassar.
This partnership has been an exciting edition to our curriculum and Nicole has been working with children to establish cultural awareness as
well as supporting educators to incorporate an indigenous perspective in our programs.
